Join FFIR Lorena, NYC H2O, the National Park Service, and the American Littoral Society for a volunteer beach cleanup at Plumb Beach. Plumb Beach is located 3 miles east of Coney Island on Jamaica Bay in Gateway National Recreation Area. It offers beautiful and diverse scenery because it contains both marine habitat as well as salt marsh within a short walk. Naturalist Mickey Cohen will lead a hands-on seining net adventure to finish off the clean-up. We'll see close-up some of the creatures that live in Jamaica Bay who we helped protect from beach garbage. Gloves, garbage bags and pickers will be provided. When we return to Union Square, FFIR Lorena will take you out to lunch (Max Brenner!) to thank you for participating in this event.
