Join FFIR Lorena and NYC H2O for a volunteer beach cleanup at Lemon Creek Beach in Staten Island. Lemon Creek is one of New York City's last remaining ground-level creeks. Located on the South Shore, its salt marsh and beach area provide a refuge for migrating birds and wetlands flora and fauna. Lunch will be served for all volunteers at noon. At 12:30pm, naturalists Clay and Seth Wollney will lead a hands-on seining net adventure. We’ll see close-up some of the creatures that live in Prince’s Bay that we helped protect from beach garbage. Gloves, garbage bags and pickers will be provided. When we return to Union Square, FFIR Lorena will take you to Liquiteria for a very expensive smoothie to thank you for participating in this event.
