WHAT IS HALL COUNCIL?

Every resident at NYU is represented by hall councils and the Inter-Residence Hall Council. The IRHC serves as the umbrella organization for each of the twenty hall councils. Individual hall councils primarily serve the residents in their hall through programming, service, and advocacy. They are also part of the IRHC, which serves the entire residential student body. Each hall council member is responsible for representing their local residents to their hall council executive board, while the President and IRHC Representative are responsible for representing their local residents to the IRHC general assembly and executive council. On a larger scale, the IRHC is tied to regional and national organizations (NEACURH and NACURH respectively) that provide resources through programming and conferences.
